Miss Universe 2015 Predictions

Miss Universe 2015 will be held on December 20, 2015 in the United States. Paulina Vega from Colombia will crown her successor at the end of the event. It will be a crazy week-end because Miss World 2015 will be held the day before, on December 19!

Miss Universe 2014 from Colombia Paulina Vega will crown her successor at the end of the beauty pageant. Traditionally, Miss Universe lives in New York City during her reign. But this year everything will be different. In 2015, after Trump made statements about illegal immigration from Mexico in his presidential campaign kickoff speech, NBC decided to end their business relationship and stated that they will no longer air the pageant, or the Miss USA pageant, on their networks. In September, 2015, Donald Trump bought the entire stock of the Miss Universe Organization from NBC, becoming its sole owner for three days until selling the entire stock to WME/IMG.

Did you know this ? The organization makes continual efforts to expand the pageant, but the participation of some countries such as Algeria has proven difficult due to cultural barriers to the swimsuit competition, while others such as Armenia, Mozambique, and Nepal have balked at sending representatives due to the cost. As of 2014, only four countries have been present at every Miss Universe since its inception in 1952: Canada, France, Germany (East and West up to 1990), and the USA.

The Truth About Split Ends

Split ends are no fun. They cause hair to look fuzzy, make strands of hair hard to style and cause hair to tangle. While we all know they’re a pain, do you really know what they are? Here’s some facts about split ends.

download

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF SPLIT ENDS

Hair can split in a lot of different ways. Names like “feather”, “tree”, “Double Y”, “Baby”, “Primary”, “Long”, “Taper”, “Triple”, “Incomplete” and “Deep” are given to the different types of split ends. The names are used to describe the way the hair splits. Unfortunately, no one type is better than another.

SPLIT ENDS CAN MAKE HAIR WEAK AND KEEP IT FROM GROWING LONG

Because split ends split the hair strand, they cause it to become weak. Weak hair doesn’t grow as well as healthy hair. If you don’t cut split ends soon after they happen, they’ll move up the strand and continue to weaken the hair more.

SPLIT ENDS CAN’T BE CURED

Although some products claim that they can fix or cure split ends, it’s not possible. Some products are able to temporarily hold the end together, but it isn’t possible to actually rejoin the end of the strand.

REGULAR CUTS CAN HELP

If you’re prone to split ends, getting regular trims will help to keep your hair healthy. You don’t necessarily need to cut much of your hair each time. A short trim should do the trick.

5 Questions to Ask Your Colorist Before Changing Color

Changing your hair color can be a big step. Whether it’s your first time straying from your natural color or you are switching it up from a different color, it’s important for you to have a clear understanding of the process and upkeep for your new color. OSCAR SABHA SALON offers complimentary consultations, so we’ll cover some of the basics. We encourage you to ask questions as well. Below are some questions that you should make sure you get answers for during your

consultation.

1. How long will it take to complete the hair color process?
2. What shade will work best with my skin type and eye color?
3. What will I have to do on a daily basis to maintain my new color?
4. How often do I have to schedule salon visits to keep the color looking great?
5. What hair products should I use?

We also encourage you to bring a photo of the color you’d like. Your OSCAR SABHA SALON stylist can tell you how the color you’re looking to achieve will look on you. They may suggest a slight variation that will better compliment your skin tone and eye color.

A Trip to Morocco…

Touted as a revolutionary styling and finishing product, Moroccan Oil is one of the latest in innovative, healthy hair treatments. Just apply a few tiny drops to clean damp hair from roots to tips and you’ll immediately notice a natural, silky softness in your hair’s texture without that greasy, heavy feeling you might find with other hair serums.

p (2)

With just a few drops, Moroccan Oil instantly goes to work seeping deep into your roots, repairing all of your split ends, while nourishing your scalp with beneficial antioxidants and Vitamins E and F. This super serum works well on all hair types and is especially good at making tangles and those tiny knots disappear with ease – no more tugging and breakage! And the smell is yummy! A a fabulously subtle, incense-y scent that leans more towards a spicy-Caribbean coconut than a sugary tropical aroma. Very nice!

Moroccan Oil promises no build up (and it didn’t!), protects against UV damage and other environmental pollutants, and provides unbelievable shine. I really like the shine without oil factor, even though it’s an oil base, it isn’t greasy.

It also claims to speed up your drying time by 40%… I didn’t notice a significant decrease in styling time, but I definitely noticed more manageable, healthier strands after one use. If you’re looking to reverse your daily hair damage, go for Moroccan Oil, the healthy shine alone will make you a believer.

Hey all Kerastase lovers out there

Hey all Kerastase lovers out there, and I know there are tons, we have some very exciting news!

Kerastase has just launched SPECIFIQUE – specialist treatments that deliver in-depth solutions for a number of scalp concerns. SPECIFIQUE is the first range from Kérastase that provides solutions for those with dandruff, oily scalp or thinning hair.  In addition to addressing scalp concerns and acting as a treatment line while symptoms persist, this advanced collection allows SPECIFIQUE to address the problem without compromising the overall healthy look of hair.  We all need that!

SPECIFIQUE has three separate lines that solve the following hair problems:

DANDRUFF – An overabundance of micro-organisms on the scalp, specifically yeast, lead to an excess build-up of cell clusters, which eventually break apart, forming dandruff.

Picture 148

OILY SCALP – This condition is the result of an over-stimulated sebaceous gland, which produces excess sebum, forcing it to eventually travel the hair fiber and weigh the hair down.

THINNING HAIR – Internal factors cause many hair types to grow differently, sometimes resulting in hair that eventually becomes finer and suffers from loss of density.

Kerastase always creates stellar products for all to use.  Bravo for creating products that really touch on issues that are faced by women, like thinning hair!  There are so few products dedicated to the health of our hair.

5 DIY HAIR TRICKS THAT WORK!

Remember the old trick of using Kool-Aid to dye your hair in high school? While that was fun, it might not be the most practical and healthy thing to do with your hair. There are some do-it-yourself home hair tricks that do actually work though and aren’t harmful on your hair. Below are our five favorites.

CLEAN YOUR HAIR WITH BAKING SODA AND WATER

If you’re noticing build up in your hair, create a paste with baking soda and water. Use the paste to wash your hair, then wash it out with apple cider vinegar. You’ll have naturally clean hair!

LEMON JUICE HIGHLIGHTS

In the summer, use lemon juice to get subtle highlights. Simply squeeze a whole lemon into a dish, then dip a toothbrush into it and apply to your hair. Go out in the sun for 45 minutes or so. Keep doing this for a couple of weeks and the lemon juice will start lightening your hair color.

DRYER SHEETS AND STATIC

Dryer sheets really do help fight static. Simply rub one on your hair from the roots to the end to get rid of unwanted static. You can rub dryer sheets on your combs and brushes to get rid of static before it gets to your hair too.

SILK PILLOWCASES

Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can actually help eliminate breakage and damage to your hair at night. If you toss and turn a lot while you sleep, try using a silk pillowcase to keep your hair healthy.

CHLORINE PROTECTION

If you’re planning on hitting the pool in the summer or on vacation, protect it from chlorine by getting your hair wet in a sink or shower, then saturating it in conditioner. Leave your hair wet, then have fun in the pool. Your hair will soak up the non-chlorine water and conditioner instead of the chlorine.

Having trouble with Hair Breakage? Try these tips.

Hair breakage can be a real problem. It can be caused by a variety of things, including your technique for detangling, the products you use and how healthy your hair is. If you’re noticing breakage during your hair maintenance and style routine, here are a few tips that should help.

images

DETANGLE WITH YOUR FINGERS

Fine-toothed combs are rough on your hair. Gently detangle using your fingers to help curb breakage.

USE A SILK OR SATIN PILLOWCASE

If you’re using a cotton pillowcase, replace it with a silk or satin one. Cotton creates extra friction, which can result in more breakage.

IF YOU HAVE EXTENSIONS OR A WEAVE, DON’T FORGET YOUR REAL HAIR

It’s easy to neglect your natural hair when you have extensions or a weave. Be sure to use a deep conditioner when you take out your extensions or weave to help strengthen your hair.

MAKE SURE YOUR SHAMPOO IS FREE OF SULFATES

Sulfates strip your hair of its natural oils. Using a shampoo that is sulfate-free will keep your hair from drying out and should help stop breakage.

BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR FLAT IRON

Check out our recent blog post on flat irons for tips on keeping your hair healthy when you use one. If you’re using the wrong flat iron or the iron is too hot, it can lead to breakage.

DON’T BRUSH DRY HAIR

In general, brushing your hair can be rough on it. If you need to brush your hair, spray some water on it before you brush it. It’ll help fight breakage.

USE A MICROFIBER TOWEL TO DRY YOUR HAIR

Terry cloth towels can cause breakage. Try a microfiber towel instead. It’ll be more gentle on your hair and should help cut down on breakage.

EAT BETTER!

A bad diet can lead to weak, unhealthy hair. Be sure your diet has enough protein. It’ll help keep your hair strong and resistant to breakage.

DITCH THE TIGHT PONYTAIL

Ponytails are hot right now. They’re especially great in the summer. If you have trouble with hair breakage, try to keep your ponytail loose. It’ll keep the tension off the hair strands and lead to less breakage.
